New Biz Office

Today I (Randal) set up a new office space in downtown Chicago. I set up my desk, organized files, telephone, established network connectivity and Internet access, synchronized my iPod, did paperwork, put up a picture of my family, etc.

It has been 10-15 years since I commuted downtown to work, first at 742 N. Wells, then in Printers Row. It took me about 45 minutes from door to door today (Oak Park) - not too bad.

Seeing our building today as I walked from the “El”, reminded me of a series of architectural illustrations I did back in the 1980’s for a group called “Friends of the Chicago River.” They did a study on how the Chicago River could be developed to become an amenity and asset to the City of Chicago, instead of remaining a blight. Much of what they recommended back then in their study, has since become a reality.

Here are some sketches I did for that study.
