Headstand Media

OBJECTIVE
Sunshine Gospel Ministries has been serving the poor and oppressed in Chicago’s inner city since 1905, when a mission for unwed mothers was founded by Moody Church on Illinois Street on Chicago’s near north side. In 1918 it became an independent inter-denominational organization. Today, Sunshine is located in the Woodlawn neighborhood, near the University of Chicago and serves the community through a number of ministries including after school programs, a technology learning center and more.

The organization sought a partner to build a new website that would better communicate their current ministries to several target audiences:
• The local community and neighborhood around the ministry location(s)
• Parents and children who may enroll in the after school and other programs
• Financial donors and other supporters of the ministry
• College students and other volunteers

SOLUTION
In October 2007, Headstand Media was contracted by the ministry to provide a new web design solution, and a range of creative and technology services including:
• Enable the ministry staff to keep the website updated in an easy-to-use, non-technical manner
• Build in “registration” features to allow online registrations for classes, events and other volunteering opportunities
• Integrate the site more fully with eTapestry online payment and donation options
• Encourage discussion, interaction and engagement with the ministry through intelligent and appropriate use of “Web 2.0” features
• Provide an intuitive organization and navigation system that allow visitors to find what they are looking for with as few clicks as possible
• Construct the site to meet WCAG 2.0 and Section 508 accessibility standards
• Increased site traffic through effective search engine optimization on natural search results

STATUS
Headstand Media is currently in the process of a web design process to meet these goals.
