WSJ Article Review - Lights! Camera! Sales!
Did you read the article in today’s WSJ, in the Small Business section? The article tagline read: “How to use video to expand your business in a YouTube world. It’s a very interesting read, especially for us at Headstand Media as we focus on helping our customers in this area. Benjamin Nelson came to Headstand from ShopLocal, where he and Patrick Flanagan (who will be our guest presenter at this Thursday’s “Nightstand” event) developed a video blog (vlog) called Digital Punch TV, which is a prime example of the point this article is making.
“It’s so different than the message-driven approach to marketing that most kinds of advertising is,” says David Meerman Scott, author of “The New Rules of Marketing and PR.” “You don’t have to talk about your product per se. You can just have fun with it.”
The WSJ article goes on to use Blendtec as a prime example of a company and brand that has used this medium to it’s own success. Ironically, it was Episode 5 of Digital Punch TV where Benjamin spoofed Blentec’s videos with some great comedy - and a bit of unexpected danger!
