Basecamp
Headstand Media recently required a project management tool for tracking and organizing the various projects we have going. I’d heard about “Basecamp” from one of my corporate clients, so I decided to check it out at http://www.basecamphq.com.
The selection of an account type was easy and starightforward (I went with the Plus package), as well as the payment options. The first month is free. I was up and running with my new account within 30 minutes.
The user interface is very easy to figure out, plus there are videos embedded to help orient you to each feature. The GUI is intuitive and tab-based just like WordPress, and many other open-source management tools.
So far, I have been very impressed with this tool. It has all the features we need, and then some: Project file sharing, time management, timelines and milestones, messaging, writeboards, and more.
It’s a pretty awesome web-based tool for a small business to help organize and manage projects.
Check it out!

Thanks for the tip, Randy. Our team is looking for an online PM tool so your recommendation is timely. I look forward to exploring BC.

We also heard from an associate that there is an open source solution similar to Basecamp called Active Collab, more info available at http://www.activecollab.com
