Randal Birkey Illustration Portfolio Index
Randal Birkey began his illustration career in 1980. Through 1985 he used the traditional illustration techniques of pen and ink line art, watercolor, color pencil and mixed media. In 1987, he purchased his first of many Apple Macintosh computers (a 1MB Mac Plus with a 20 MB serial hard drive) and began using digital technology in his illustration and design process. By the early 1990’s he had completely transitioned to digital illustration and design.
With the advent of the world wide web, Randal created his first website in 1996 at BIRKEY.COM to feature his repertoire of illustration styles and media.
BIRKEY.COM became the name of his web design business until 2007, when he sold his ownership in that firm and established Headstand Media. For the time being, BIRKEY.COM will still contain much of his illustration portfolio.
